The CETLD screen saver. These installation notes describe... - How the screen saver was developed - The operating systems it can be executed on - The optimum screen sizes for use - How the screen saver should be installed - What files are installed - How the screen saver should be removed - Some legal considerations About the screen saver -------------------------------- The CETLD screen saver is a Flash animation converted to a screen saver via compilation by ScreenTime for Flash (STF). It is important to note that the bare minimum of Flash ActionScript has been added by etal; only a handful of stop() methods have been used. Target operating systems ---------------------------------- Two savers are available. One targets both Windows 2000 and XP, and the other Mac OSX (10.2 or later). The installer contains Flash Player plug-in Flash 7r19. Optimum screen sizes ----------------------------- It has been assumed that each monitor has a 4:3 aspect ratio. Compliant sizes are: 640 x 480 800 x 600 1024 x 768 1152 x 864 1280 x 960 1600 x 1200 At some other sizes, the logotype may appear distorted. Installing ------------- To install on a single machine drag one installer file, "CETLD_setup", to some convenient location on that machine, and double-click the installer. Which version of "CETLD_setup" should I use?... Diagrammatically the installation disk looks like: CETLD |___OSX CETLD_setup |___Windows |____InstallAndOpenDisplay CETLD_setup |____InstallSilent CETLD_setup Installation notes The Mac OSX has just one installation option. Windows has two... Installation option 1: the "InstallAndOpenDisplay" folder... Here "CETLD_setup" installs a saver, makes it the current screen saver, and then opens the Display Properties control panel. Installation option 2: the "InstallSilent" folder... If your target is Windows we suggest you... - Select your target operating system and, because it provides feedback, choose the "InstallAndOpenDisplay" option - Drag the appropriate "CETLD_setup" file to some convenient location on the target machine - Double-click the installer (Once the installation has been checked the setup file can be trashed) What is installed ----------------------- On Windows 2000... Consequently you will need to manually delete the partially empty directory and file. The instructions below reflect this. In detail: - Press the "Start" button on the Taskbar - Select the "Settings" menu option and "Control Panel" sub-menu item (The "Control Panel" dialog appears) - Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon (The "Display Properties" dialog appears) - Select "CETLD Screen Saver" from the list - Press the "Change/Remove" button (It will appear that nothing has happened, but behind the scenes some of the installed files in the installed screensaver directory will have been deleted) - Close the windows you have just opened - Go to the "WINNT" folder - Go to the "system32" directory - Delete the contained "CETLD" directory - Delete the contained "CETLD" Screen Saver file (You may find it easier to find if you list the directory's contents by Type and look for "Screen Saver" first) - Close the windows you have just opened - Restart the machine - Reopen "Control Panel" - Reopen "Add/Remove Programs" - Scroll to the "CETLD Screen Saver" - Press the "Change/Remove" button (A dialog appears saying that the screen saver may have been uninstalled. Press "Yes" in answer to the question would you like to remove the "CETLD" screen saver from the Add/Remove programs listing.
