Kate graduated in 1985 with a 2:1 in Graphic Design and Illustration. She describes her experiences since graduation:
"I realised very quickly after leaving college that I didn't want to use my artistic skills to make a living. The very act of having to work to a commission spoiled it for me. It paralysed my creativity and the work I turned out to other people's briefs was mostly dreadful!
"So I decided to keep painting and drawing as my hobby and my passion - which it still is - and make a living doing something else.
"1980s Brighton was a hoot. My art college friends and I went clubbing as often as we could, drank like fish and worked very hard. I remember my college days with fondness and am still in touch with a couple of old Grand Parade friends from back in the day. But life now is even better!"
