Finnish Design Project

Design ’81, Helsinki

In 1981, Helsinki hosted a Design Congress at which ICOGRADA, ICSID, and IFI met together for the first time for a common objective defined in the title: Design Intergration. Despite Design ’81 being an international event, the themes were influenced by the conditions in Finland: the structure of its society and industry, folklore, cultural traditions and physical features. This section of the resource comprises documentation held in the ICSID archive including the programme, reports and other items related to the proceedings – you can download the following documents as PDF’s:  Design Integration programme, XII ICSID 1981 Helsinki – Ornamo 70, Design ’81 original programme plans, Design Integration final report, Design Intergration Final Report Design ’81, Design ’81 timetable, Design Integration topics and speakers, Design Intergration interlinking sketch and the opening and closing ceremony programme. The material from the ICOGRADA archive comprises highlights from a unique photographic record of the social events in which delegates participated (see images above).
