ARENA (Arts Research ENrichment Activities) is a programme of research skills development in the arts and humanities across the University of Brighton and Royal Holloway, University of London.
It is one of only 6 newly-funded organisation-led AHRC awards to support collaborative skills development.
The programme will equip selected PhD students and Early Career Researchers from both the University of Brighton and Royal Holloway, University of London, to select appropriate hermeneutic pathways when working with historical objects, artefacts, performances, live events and recordings.
It comprises 4 inter-related strands, addressing the digital transformation of sources, new ways of working within and accessing communities of practice, influences affecting the process of knowledge production, and experiential and creative ways of writing. In all strands, participants will deal with tangible data and case-study materials, producing outcomes combining interpretive insights with practical engagement.
