1.0 PROJECT SUMMARY
Re-Figuring Innovation in Games addresses an urgent need for equity, diversity and innovation in avideogame industry and its associated culture that is notoriously exclusionary and openly intolerant, particularly of women. This extensive research-driven partnership is designed to enable and support a timelyre-thinking and ‘re-configuring’ of an industry and culture impeded by persistent gender-based inequality, working within and across four sectors:
1. the games industry
2. game cultures
3. informal learning environments
4. formal education
With an international team of researchers, academic institutions, community and industry partners, we have identified priority issues in each of these sectors, initiated research projects that directly address them, andare mobilizing that research to co-create resources and policies that identify and address discriminatorygender politics in these spaces and cultivate and support techno-cultural innovation.
