This year Brighton’s Big Read welcomes author Emma Donoghue to
read from her novel Room, shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in
2010. To coincide with this event Brighton’s C21 Research is
holding a one-day symposium on Donoghue’s work as writer, critic and historian.
Emma
Donoghue has published ten novels, (including one for young readers), five
collections of short stories, thirteen radio plays, eight works for theatre,
and has adapted both Room and her short story ‘Pluck’ for
film. She has also published three critical literary histories and numerous
articles and book chapters in this area. We invite critical papers that respond
to the full range of Emma Donoghue’s work and her contribution to contemporary
literature.
