Philosophy Study Day
Tuesday September 19th, 2017, 9.30-3.30pm
Following the success of two previous events, CAPPE & the Royal Institute of Philosophy are holding a Philosophy Study Day on Tuesday September 19th. The day is focused on a combination of contemporary political themes and key philosophical questions aimed at students already studying philosophy and who have encountered philosophical and ethical debate via Religious Education, Sociology, English or Politics and are interested in learning more. With academics from the University of Brighton led by Dr Clare Woodford and Dr Mark Devenney and guest academics Dr Paulina Tambakaki from the University of Westminster and Dr Gulshan Khan from the University of Nottingham, those attending will consider: Should we treat others equally? Is a moral life a good life? How far should freedom of speech go? Should private property be abolished?
This day is an opportunity for Year 12, Year 13 and Access to HE students to experience lectures and seminars and to participate in debate with each other and the staff and students studying at the University of Brighton.
