CAPPE is negotiating a memorandum of co-operation to support research and academic collaboration with the University of Verona. Our first PhD students will travel to Verona in January of 2016 for a two day research workshop, and we will welcome colleagues from Verona to Brighton in June of 2016. This collaboration is part of ongoing work across Europe in the area of contemporary Critical Theory. CAPPE already works with Universities in Sweden, the Netherlands, Greece, France and Austria in the area of contemporary post Marxist theory. This particular collaboration arises from a common interest in the politics of critique, with particular focus on the limits of biopolitical approaches to understanding the political. It is a particular pleasure to be working with Professor Adriano Cavarero and Professor Lorenzo Bernini as well as a number of PhD students and researchers in the Department of Philosophy, Education and Psychology. The partnership will see annual staff and student reciprocal workshops related to ongoing research within the CAPPE and the Hannah Arendt Centre for Political Research with a view to building a larger collaborative programme.
