Iota is an acronym of image-object-text-analysis.
It is an indication of the scope of the seminars, which encompasses all categories of material culture: things, pictures, words and provides a meeting ground for these different disciplinary practices of interpretation.
Iota is the ninth Greek letter: I. The iota seminars recognise the importance of individual scholarly efforts in any larger field enquiry and often addresses the subject of identity. An iota is the smallest amount, a jot, and the word is intended to invoke our interest in the details, often overlooked or marginal, that may contain a key to understanding wider material worlds.
The iota seminars are open and free.
