Design Research at Brighton comprises a dynamic community of world-leading academics, emerging researchers and doctoral students.
Through the generation of texts, materials, objects and experiences, our work engages some of the most complex social, ecological and economic challenges of our time.
To achieve this, we work in partnership with a diverse set of stakeholders such as global businesses (e.g. Philips, Puma, Heals, Veolia) major cultural organisations (e.g. Design Museum, V&A, Crafts Council), NGOs (e.g. Marine Conservation Society, Vision Aid Overseas) and policy-making institutions (e.g. UK Government, House of Lords, NHS, United Nations).
Our research directly shapes the curriculum; nourishing our undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students in Design, as they too nourish us with their evolving research knowledge and expertise creating a truly reflexive and inclusive partnership.
Peter Lloyd is Professor of Design at the University of Brighton. His research has a particular emphasis on the language used in design activity.
