A group of activists and artists are re-making Picasso’s
Guernica as a banner. Hundreds of people have participated in this textile project, which will be exhibited at Pallant House, Chichester, amongst other places, later this year.
Re-making Picasso’s Guernica is a collective project involving makers from the Design History and Material Culture Research Group with those from Amnesty International, Brighton Anti-Fascists, Gatwick Detainee Visitors, Migrant English Project, Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.

Local Name: Unknown …. Gypsies?
As part of the Delaine Le Bas’ exhibition of the artefacts, imagery and hidden history surrounding the Gypsies in England, we will be holding an afternoon of stitching and political debate. The material and symbolic connections of cloth used to re- make Picasso's
Guernica are point of departure for discussion of shared and different histories, of oppression and resistance.
Come and sew. No prior skills required. Needlecraft knowledge is shared.
