LITERATURE AND PEDAGOGY SEMINAR SERIES 2014-15
Teaching Literature 16-21+: continuities, principles and issues
Dr McEvoy will make a presentation and chair a discussion on teaching and learning in literature classes, considering how students develop from sixth-form through to undergraduate and postgraduate degree level. This session will be an important opportunity for teachers and students of literature to reflect on their experiences and, in discussion, to share ideas about practices, principles and issues across the 16-21+ age range.
Sean McEvoy co-ordinates the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Varndean College, Brighton. He has taught on the Shakespeare MA at Royal Holloway, at Sussex University, and currently at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge. His publications include 'Shakespeare: The Basics' and 'Ben Jonson, Renaissance Dramatist'.
This seminar series is a new initiative from the University of Brighton that seeks to engage teachers of literature in Higher Education, post-16 teaching and transition to Higher Education in round-table seminar discussions led by leading practitioners.
