Designs by Faculty of Arts BA(Hons) Fashion and Textiles students who graduated last year, have been featured in a new competition run by international fashion retailer H&M.
The annual H&M Design Award brought together graduates from 14 major design colleges around Europe to encourage their future fashion careers and inspire the next generation of designers The competition show was held at Candid Arts, in Islington, North London earlier this month and the awards process can be followed online through a series of films at: http://designaward2012.hm.com
In addition to a €50,000 prize, the competition showcases the winning designer’s collection at Stockholm’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week beginning 1 February 2012 and chosen pieces from their collection will be on sale in selected H&M stores. Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design at H&M said: “I’m very excited about the H&M Design Award. It’s our first ever prize for new young designers, and it’s been such an inspiring experience to meet these talented graduates, to hear the vision behind their collections and to see the final result. With the award I hope we encourage young designers around the world to believe in themselves and their creativity. I can’t wait to share the experience with everyone on-line."
