White Night 2010
The night that the clocks go back is the time to celebrate jointly White Night in Brighton and Nuit Blanche in Amiens.
The University of Brighton contributed with an illuminated projection show of sketches and drawings by first year students of Fashion Textiles. The Students initiated their first project by exploring Brighton for all that it can offer as visual stimulus, recording their first impressions based on Illumination and the working theme of 'The Light at the End of the Tunnel'.
A trip to the sewers helped the students to see the dark side of Brighton, while the sea, sun and city lights illuminated brighter aspects.
A successful orchestration of three simultaneous images projected onto the wall of Fabrica Gallery in the town centre allowed serendipity to play a large part as images resonated with one another for impact and intriguing trompe l'oeil effects.
