Architecture and Design leader, Dr. Catherine Harper, is editor of a multi-volume work.
15 Aug 2013
Dr Catherine Harper, head of Architecture and Design within the Faculty of Arts, is editor of a major new reference work drawing together 80 seminal essays on textiles.
The multi-volume book titled 'Textiles: Critical and Primary Sources' is structured into four themed sections: history and curation; production and sustainability; science and technology; and identity. Harper introduces each section with an editorial essay serving to critique and supplement each textual collection and theme.
Dr Joan Farrer, leader of research across the Fashion and Textiles programmes, and Professor Lou Taylor, who teaches on Fashion and Dress History BA(Hons), have both contributed texts to the collection.
The work is published just as Catherine Harper prepares to leave the University of Brighton to take up her new post as Dean of the School of Arts and Digital Industries at University of East London.
