Naomi Partington wins industry competition

Recent Textile Design graduate, Naomi Partington, has been named a silver winner in the Knitted Textile Awards. The competition is an industry-recognised award sponsored by Knitting Magazine and the UK Hand Knitting Association, which aims to recognise fresh talent emerging from UK universities and colleges.
Over 100 entries were received and after a tough selection process, just four finalists were chosen. The result was a showcase of their work at Knitting and Stitching shows held at London’s Alexandra Palace and Harrogate.
Naomi studied Fashion and Textiles BA(Hons) where she was able to combine her interests. It was here, she says, she gained the confidence to push her creativity further and develop her skills in a very fashion-focused way.
Challenging herself to explore what different materials and techniques could do, she was able to put it all into practice for her final collection. The results are a beautiful array of delicately crafted and extremely wearable clothes that could sit comfortably in any design collection.
Currently, Naomi is working for the clothing brand COS (Collection of Style), she said: “I feel their design aesthetic really suits my style of work. Their focus is always on interesting yarns in simple but modern designs, ultimately, creating interesting and innovative collections.
“As a creative person, I will always thrive in that environment. I hope to continue working in fashion, progressing in a creative role, so I can keep learning and developing my knowledge as a designer-maker.”
