Research in the humanities at Brighton is undertaken by a range of specialist individuals and groups working with a number of complementary methodologies.
Supportive communities work in disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary ways across philosophy, politics, history, literature, language, linguistics, film and media theory and cultural studies.
Engagement across the traditional disciplines is fostered through research centres and groups, collective projects and strategic university-wide themes, notably in history-making, contemporary writing and in conflict studies.
A thriving research culture in the humanities is evidenced in significant grants and publications, international conference participation, consultancy and cultural outreach programmes.
Locally-based and visiting researchers participate in a regular set of seminars and conferences, providing a dissemination base and a welcoming environment through which to foster successful research and publication.
