Over the last few years the IOTA seminar series has developed as an interdisciplinary project which assumes a broad understanding of what constitutes a designed world.
IOTA is an acronym of image-object-text-analysis. It is an indication of the scope of the seminars, which encompass all categories of material culture: things, pictures, words. The study of material culture is usually divided up between academic disciplines, including anthropology, archaeology, art history, design history and museum studies - the iota seminar series provides a meeting ground for these different disciplinary practices of interpretation.
