Inheritable Futures Laboratory (IF:Lab)
Housed within the University of Brighton’s Faculty of Arts, the Inheritable Futures Laboratory (IF:Laboratory) is a future-conscious design research studio situated at the very forefront of today’s sustainable agenda. Co-directed by Nick Gant and Jonathan Chapman; The if:laboratory engages the often disparate and fragmented worlds of industry and academia to maximise the effectiveness of sustainable design development in practice; where it is needed most. Through the effective fusion of theoretical and practice-based work, if:laboratory explores the gross inefficiencies of contemporary material culture to develop pioneering ways of thinking, designing and consuming in an age of looming ecological crisis, mounting environmental legislation and limited sustainable design progress.
