Martin's innovative two-minute paper animation 'Going West' resulted in accolades throughout the film world including winner of Gold for Animation in Film Craft, Cannes Lions 2010. His work has been exhibited internationally and published in books and magazines worldwide, while his client list includes Cartier, Channel 4, Magnum, Reuters, Martini and Unilever.
With work for Magnum and July Skies, graphic designer Martin Anderson is internationally renowned for his work on book covers, album sleeves and for his representations of music. He is founder and creative director of Andersen M Studio, an independent multi-disciplinary art and design studio.
Martin Andersen (MA, RCA) is founder and creative director of multi award-winning Andersen M Studio, together with sibling Line Andersen. His multi-disciplinary studio produces graphic design, photography, animations, films and music for a wide range of different clients, among the most prestigious being Cartier, Southbank Centre, American Express, Channel 4, Magnum, Reuters, Martini, Unilever and Accenture.
He lectures in Graphic Design and the innovations of his practice have established new understanding of the field of graphic design, its methods and the influence of these new types of practice. July Skies, an award-winning series of album covers were evidence of groundbreaking and experimental work in terms of music design. Exhibited by Andersen as part of Swinging London these influenced students and professional designers around the world.
More recently, Going West aimed to reinvent and advance paper animation through a cinematic lens. Commissioned to promote the reading of books by advertising agency BBDO for the New Zealand Book Council, Andersen selected the book Going West by New Zealand fiction writer Maurice Gee as the subject of a two-minute animation, and sought to develop new ways to capture the imagination and experiences of reading. The results won awards around the world including winner of Gold for Animation in Film Craft, Cannes Lions 2010, France
