Cora Mann - Reversed River

Cora Mann - Reversed River

My project looks at the relationship of Lewes with the river, creating gardens where the river should be and flooding existing warehouses.

The scenario for my project is that dams were built to stop the issue of flooding within Lewes; this led to a new strip of gardens and wildlife to grow within the space, allowing for public access through the middle of Lewes. A new contained river is built between the dams to allow for boats to travel into the floating market spaces and explore the flower market. These market spaces will be in existing warehouse that will be flooded and then jetties, market spaces will be floated in and an upper level will be built. All market spaces such as flower markets, restaurants and jetties will be made off site using basic materials and floated into the warehouse, connecting to permanent jetties. This allows for tourists to explore the site by either foot or boat, buying food and flowers from the market and observing the changes of the market during the day, season or year from the upper level.
