I have recently studied for an MA in Inclusive Arts Practice at the University Of Brighton. Formerly a co-director of ‘Muddy Feet Theatre & Arts’ and now ‘Figment Arts,’ I have devised and delivered many inclusive arts projects.
With a practice informed by the social model of disability and the principals of co-constructed learning, I have designed projects around such diverse themes as multisensory arts practice, experimental mark making and aerial acrobatics and have experience in working 1:1 and with groups. I create workshops and projects that act as flexible frameworks within which participants can access high quality opportunities to autonomously explore the creative process, learn new skills and make work.
Since graduating from Bretton Hall College with a BA in Devised Performance in 1999, I have worked with young people in a diverse range of settings including children’s theatre and community arts, playwork, outreach and therapeutic support. This range of experience has led me to specialise in working with vulnerable young people who may have communication and behavioural difficulties.
My personal practice is photography. I am self-taught and I am developing work using analogue equipment both alone and collaboratively. Some can be viewed at http://lofimofo.tumblr.com/
I also have a strong interest in aerial corde lisse and have situated some of my practice in collaborating with two other practitioners to develop work around teaching aerial skills to people with learning disabilities.
