Fine Art lecturer's show at Royal Pavilion
Work by artist, Susan Diab, who lectures on the BA(Hons) Fine Art Critical Practice course at the Faculty of Arts will be featured at a two forthcoming exhibitions.
From 6-7 October Diab’s audio work: 'Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside!' in which she sings the well-known British song in Arabic, will be on show as part of The Far Pavilion event, Brighton's first ever festival of Arabic culture set in an arabesque tent in the Royal Pavilion Gardens, Brighton.
The festival includes dance, film, music, storytelling and workshops during the day and performances in the evenings.
From 19-21 October, Diab’s new work Imprint: Representations of the Real will be on show in an exhibition at APEC Studios with fellow artists.
Diab works across a range of media and forms of practice from making objects, to organising public events, to facilitating projects and collaborations. She is based at APEC Studios working under the name Work For A Living, collaborating with fellow artists, and organisations who employ them.
This year Diab was selected to be one of the recipients of the University of Brighton’s Excellence in Facilitation and Empowerment in Learning Awards for her highly innovative university-wide placement scheme for Critical Practice students. The scheme offers students a chance to work in another school or department of the university as an artist-in-residence.
