In December 2008,
Dr Paul Hopper secured his sixth book contract with Polity Press for a work entitled Global Security and Peacebuilding. The monograph will critically investigate the multiple dimensions of global security and conflict management, especially in relation to the globalisation of environmental hazards. It is scheduled for publication in September 2012 and will complete a trilogy that he is writing for Polity that explores the interrelationships between globalisation, sustainable development and environmental security. The first monograph, Understanding Sustainable Development, will be published in September 2009 and the second book, Global Environmental Politics will be published in September 2010.
Cumulatively, these works assess the prospects for the formation of effective global environmental governance and sustainable development strategies to deal with anticipated environmental decline, outlining the necessary policy responses that have to be put in place.
In November 2008, Zheijian University Press bought the Simplified Chinese-language rights for Hopper’s first monograph Rebuilding Communities in an Age of Individualism (Ashgate Publishing Limited, 2003). Zheijian University Press will translate and market the monograph in China and the surrounding region.
