The following Centre for Learning and Teaching Awards/Fellowships for Teaching Excellence and the Facilitation and Empowering of Learning were awarded to Faculty members:
Fellowships have been secured by Ryan Southall (1,000) and Vikki Haffenden (1,000). Awards have been secured by Alma Boyes (250) and Lydia Jones (250). The Faculty is especially happy to see all four 'types' of staff represented here - Research, Technical, Academic and Administrative - demonstrating that the staff in all capacities are recognised as valued support for our students' learning.
The University of Brighton Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) supports the professional development of academic staff across the University. We work on several levels - with individuals and groups of staff, with schools and faculties, and through contributing to institutional and national policy.
Our aim is to promote the importance of teaching as a professional activity and enhance the quality of learning and teaching. We do this through a range of activities, including courses for new and experienced lecturers, events such as conferences and staff seminars, projects and consultancy work for individuals and departments, research into learning and teaching in HE, and the development of resources to support learning and teaching. One of these is the substantial area dealing with teaching strategies to support students with disabilities.
They also help colleagues to access support and funding from the University'sCentres of Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETLs),one of these being the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Through Design (CETLD), and external bodies such as theHigher Education Academy and Subject Centre network.
