Carbon Crucible

The programme is for 30 energy researchers from a mixture of academic, industrial and professionalresearch backgrounds. Carbon Crucible will encourage researchers to: 

• put their roles in a wider societal context – by understanding the importance of engaging with policy, public and media and thinking about the energy and climate
• change challenges facing society in the UK and also internationally
• share perspectives and build relationships which may lead to interdisciplinary collaborations now or in the future
• think creatively and understand the skills and attitudes likely to make energy and low carbon research more innovative.

Over four two-day residential workshops the programme will help Dr Southall develop new research directions, form collaborative partnerships and better appreciate the public context within which contemporary low-energy research is being conducted.
