Joshua Gluckstein collects award in Jewish Care Jack Goldhill competition

BA(Hons) Fine Art student, Joshua Gluckstein (pictured right), has won third prize in the inaugural Jewish Care Jack Goldhill painting competition.
He received a £1,000 prize for his painting entitled Victor at a showcase and prize giving event held at the Zabludowicz Collection in Chalk Farm, North London.
Thrilled with his success Joshua, who is in his second year, said: “Winning this award is the most amazing thing in the world!”
The high profile judging panel consisted of son of Jack Goldhill, Michael Goldhill, artist and BP Portrait Award exhibitor, Jeremy Andrews, fashion designer, Sara Berman, chairman of Sotheby’s Europe, Melanie Clore, artist, Judy Goldhill, and sculptor, Dawn Rowland.
The winning artists agreed to donate their work to Jewish Care who will prominently displayed the paintings in one of their care homes or centres.
The Jack Goldhill Painting Prize was created to commemorate the life of the businessman and philanthropist Jack Goldhill and to celebrate his contribution to the arts in the UK. His son Michael Goldhill said: “Throughout his life my father sought to encourage and support British artists in practical ways. We hope that this prize, in his name, will continue that initiative."
Jewish Care is the largest health and social care charity, running 70 community centres in the UK.
The BA(Hons) Fine Art Painting course at University of Brighton offers students a studio-based, in-depth opportunity to develop the creative, intellectual and practical knowledge and skills of painting.
