15 Aug 2013
The University of Brighton Faculty of Arts is offering an opportunity to acquire high quality, signed prints donated by important, contemporary photographers and rising stars through an online auction at: www.21years.co.uk. The auction runs until 11.59BST on Wednesday, 24 April.
There will also be an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with famous alumni photographers Mark Power, Lisa Barnard, Stuart Griffiths, Laura Pannack and Martin Seeds who will reflect on the question: “What would you tell your student self now?”. Alumni and lecturers from the course also include Ewen Spencer, Liz Hingley, MacDonald Strand, Richard Rowland, Emma Critchley, Kim Thue, Paul Reas, Aaron Schuman, Danny Treacy, Murray Ballard and many more.
The aim is to raise funds to produce two books to celebrate 21 years of the Photography BA(Hons) course (formerly Editorial Photography). The first will celebrate the work of 36 of the faculty’s most successful alumni and include interviews alongside photographs. The second book will showcase the work of current students graduating this year whose work will be displayed at the Faculty of Arts Graduate Show from 31 May.
The Q&A session with alumni will take place at a Live Event on 22 April, where all the lots from the online auction will be on display. There will also be an opportunity to choose from a selection of 31 anonymously donated prints of photographs by current students on sale at £20 each. The Live Event takes place at The Old Market in Hove on 22 April from 7pm.
