Sue Gollifer to be chair of ACM SIGGRAPH

College of Arts and Humanities Fine Art lecturer and MA Digital Media Arts course leader Sue Gollifer has just been appointed Chair of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) SIGGRAPH Art Awards Committee.
Since its beginning in 1974 as a small group of specialists in a previously unknown discipline, ACM SIGGRAPH has evolved to become an international community of researchers, artists, developers, filmmakers, scientists, and business professionals who share an interest in computer graphics and interactive techniques. It offers a diverse menu of programmes and services for members and the computer graphics community.
The awards committee Gollifer will chair oversees the Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement in Digital Art which is awarded annually to an artist who has created a body of work that has significantly advanced the aesthetic content of digital art.
This year’s recipient, Harold Cohen is best known for his pioneering achievements in creating art through artificial intelligence and machine autonomy and his invention of the art making system AARON.
Gollifer is also Headquarters Director of ISEA, previously known as International Society for the Electronic Arts.
