Sean Padraic Birnie to be mentored by Magnum photographer
25 May 2016
Sean Padraic Birnie who graduated in Photography MA last year is one of ten prizewinners in the Magnum Graduate Photographers Awards 2016. The competition is run in association with Magnum Photos and Photo London.
As part of the prize Sean will be mentored by a Magnum photographer and participate in a portfolio review event with an expert panel.
The Graduate Photographers Award provides an opportunity for new photographers, acknowledging the best emerging practitioners, providing them with exposure to both a public and highly professional audience.
A team of ten industry experts each nominated ten outstanding photographers who have graduated from a UK degree course relating to photography or lens-based media in the last three years. From these nominations, the final selection of ten photographers were identified by a panel of judges: Michael Benson, Director of Candlestar; William A. Ewing, curator, writer and former Director of the Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne and former Director of Exhibitions at the International Center of Photography, New York, Martin Barnes, Senior Curator of Photographs at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Fiona Rogers, Global Business Development Manager at Magnum Photos; and Magnum photographer Mark Power.
