Jackowski won a travelling scholarship and the John Minton Scholarship at the Royal College of Art and was Artist in Residence at the University of Sussex, 1978-9. From 1980 he taught in the Brighton Fine Art department and continued to exhibit, sell and win painting and printmaking prizes including John Moores, Liverpool, 1991.
As a child, Jackowski experienced life in a polish camp for refugees in the north of England. He has lived, worked and taught in Brighton since the mid-1980s and early memories still surface in his work.
