  • Beech was appointed Head of Fine Art at Brighton in 1985 and subsequently took charge of the School of Arts and Communication. Life Bucket is from a sequence of prints made with Jane Whitaker as part of the process of realising the script for a new film 'And Fair, Fierce Women'. Jailbird is based on drawings Beech made with Larry Winters, a prisoner in the maximum security Special Unit at Barlinnie Prison, Glasgow. Their collaboration led to the creation of 'Silent Sachem', an award-winning Channel 4/BFI film on the life and writing of Winters.
