Choong Kam Kow

  • Dr. Choong Kam Kow, an artist of international fame and a prominent academician in the field of art and design education, obtained his BA in Fine Art from the National Taiwan Normal University in 1961 and Master in Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, N.Y. USA in 1968.

    In 1965, He received a Fulbright Grant to  study modern art in USA and another Fulbright-ACLS Fellowship in 1980 for research in contemporary art. In 2006, he was conferred the Honorary  Degree of Doctor of Arts by the Robert  Gordon University, Scotland for his achievements in fine art and contribution in art and design education.

    In addition to the prestigious Fulbright Hays Awards, Choong has also won many prizes in art competitions including 1st prize (Drawing) & 2nd prize (water colour) in Virginia Art Show, 2nd prize (Landscape) in PNB Art Competition and 3rd prize in Association of Bank Art Competition etc.

    He exhibited his solo show “The Works of Choong Kam Kow in the 90’s – Paper Reliefs & Paintings” at University of Brighton Art Gallery in 1998. The accompanying book is available from the College of Arts and Humanities online shop.
