Emma Denmark graduated after studying Fine Art Printmaking. Her final degree works were entitled 'Bad Poet' and 'Royal(ly) Bad Poets'.
Emma was awarded the Santander Award for Excellence and Achievement in Art and Design for her piece 'Bad Poet'.
Emma experiments with the use of appropriated content in her work; vintage imagery obtained from old, yellowed books, topographical postcards and most recently cigarette cards. I make collecting of such items a regular occurrence in my practice, preferring not to destroy in order to create, but to digitally copy and archive for future reference and as an on-going source for my work. She was awarded the Santander Award for Excellence and Achievement in Art and Design, the work mentioned above; ‘Bad Poet’ was the example presented to the selectors along with supporting documents from my tutors and lead to me being chosen to receive it.
