Watercolour artist Ian Potts trained in Sutherland and at the RA, graduating in 1961. He painted in the Mediterranean on an Italian Institute grant' 1967-69, and at the British School in Athens, 1975. 'Fragments Against Ruin'.1981-82, was an Arts Council touring show of his Watercolours of Greece and Italy.
Potts taught part-time in Brighton College of Art from 1960-63 and then full-time for the next 35 years as Course Leader in Fine Art. On retirement from the University in 2004 he continued to live and work in Lewes and at his studio in France until his death in 2014.
In 2016 the University of Brighton galleries hosted a major retrospective of Ian's work.
