Brighton's history as the location for pioneering film production and for iconic films like the first 'Brighton Rock' and 'Quadrophenia' is discussed in Simon Calder's travel feature 'The Screen Star of Sussex' in 2 February's The Independent.
The article recalls the city's unique role with the help of Screen Archive South East director and early cinema expert Dr. Frank Gray.
Calder also praises 'Capturing Colour: Film, Invention, Wonder' (at Brighton Museum until March 20 and curated by Dr. Gray) as a "fascinating exhibition".
