MA Visual Arts student Laila Hansen uses Screen Archive footage
30 Apr 2014
A live sound and visual arts performance improvised to film sourced from the Screen Archive South East, was recorded in the shelter and the resulting work used to create a unique sonic installation 'Communication Certified' to be run in May 2014.
Laila, who graduated in 2014, is particularly interested in unveiling and creating sounds in historical buildings. SASE is keen to support her attempts to interweave local archive film into this sonic/visual installation and has given her access to our colour film of children evacuating to a shelter Air Raid Practice at Knoll School in Hove and the joyful portrait of Brighton celebrating the end of WW2 VE Day Celebrations in Brighton, May 1945.
