The 2011 CINECITY programme offers audiences a fascinating array of films from the UK and around the world, with feature films and documentaries, artists’ cinema, treasures from the archive, retrospectives, free screenings, talks and debates. The opening film is Steve McQueen’s ‘Shame’ and the closing feature is Roman Polanski’s ‘Carnage’. View the full programme.
Tickets are available in advance from the Duke of York’s Picturehouse box office, on the door, or by ringing 0871 902 5728. Students can buy a Festival Pass for £30 for 10 tickets, valid for films at all CINECITY venues.
During the festival, THIS OUR STILL LIFE, a portrait of a Pyrenean farmhouse through the eyes and ears of film-maker Andrew Kotting and his daughter Eden, complements a screening of his new film. (University of Brighton South Gallery, November 17 – December 3). Austrian film-maker Martin Arnold presents SOFT PALATE, a darkly humorous twist on Mickey Mouse and Pluto. (University of Brighton North Gallery, November 17 – December 1).
