The first episode of a new BBC 2 series called The British At Work aired on Thursday 10 March, with a focus on the period 1945-1964. Presented by Kirsty Young, the programme explored British working lives since the Second World War, and used images of the Britain Can Make It exhibition, 1946, from the Design Council archive in its opening section.
The series will use moving images from documentary, television and film collections alongside the memories of working people to profile a period during which work was a mass experience and work places could be lively, welcoming communities.
