EarSpaceBodySound - a SoundArt Guest Lecture
on Sound, Space & the Human Body by Prof. Bernhard Leitner (Vienna) Bernhard Leitner is a Viennese SoundArt pioneer and leading practitioner in his field. Trained as an architect, he quickly began to explore the hybrid relations between sound, space and the human body, acquiring an international reputation in the wake of his ground-breaking sound-space experiments in New York in the late 1960s. He has since gone on to create a vast body of sound-space installations worldwide - some permanent, many distinctly architectural – as well as exploring more intimate sonic environments through his constructions of sound furniture and ‘headscapes’. He has published his researches on spatialiality and corporeal SoundArt practice, and is the author of the seminal book Sound:Space. Parenthetically, he can also take credit for the rescue and preservation of the Wittgenstein-House in Vienna. Free admission. |
