Let your imagination do the running!!
The ‘Brighton Photomarathon’ is a photography competition with a difference. Entrants have 12 hours to take 12 photos on 12 given topics. Then it’s all down to your individual imagination and creativity. Participants have to come back to the BRIGHTON PHOTOMARATHON checkpoint throughout the day to collect the next set on titles, which are kept secret until each release time. We do not release titles digitally as we want to see you throughout the day; this is as much a social event as it is a competition. Coming back to the checkpoint gives you the chance to catch up with fellow participants and exchange ideas (unless you want to keep them as a surprise). The rest of the day is yours. You can enter as an individual or as teams, all we ask is you let your imagination run wild. The competition is followed by an exhibition of ALL entrants’ photographs. It’s a great opportunity to view how individuals have tackled the challenge and taken inspiration from the given titles. The final photographs are judged and fantastic prizes are on offer. “Photomarathons have proved popular across Europe, with regular events in Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, the Czech Republic, France and Russia as well global event in Vancouver, Cape Town and Toronto. The first UK Photomarathon was held in Cardiff in the summer of 2004 when 120 people took up the challenge. In 2010, the event made the switch from film to digital. The event now attracts 400 entrants each year.” – Extract taken from Photomarathon UK
