Connection: Artists from MA Inclusive Arts Practice will be exhibiting and performing their work.
Masters students from the University of Brighton have been leading arts research projects, working alongside vulnerable groups and individuals for over six months. They will be showcasing the work they have made, in response to their research, at the July graduate shows.
The 12 artists are currently finalising their shows, to take place at the Grand Parade Campus. The work, including installations, animation and street art, has been developed from collaborations in the Artists’ local communities, and further afield encompassing London, Senegal and Tokyo. 'The MA inclusive Arts students are adventurers in collaboration - pushing the boundaries of contemporary art to find new and exciting expressions of creativity, equality and partnership’, Jane Fox, Senior Lecturer, University of Brighton.
The exhibition will be the culmination of two years work, during which time the students have interrogated their working methods and understanding of facilitation and collaboration. ‘For me personally, inclusive arts means working together as equals. I find creative ways to use my abilities to endorse or advocate for a partner who occupies a marginalised position in the community.’ Eve Turner-Lee, Masters student.
In presenting this work the students seek to give a voice to vulnerable and marginalised members of society. For example, people with mental health issues, sheltered housing residents, adults with learning disabilities and carers of children with disabilities. Opening hours:
