Sallis Benney Theatre
Brighton and Hove’s longest established amateur theatre company, City Theatre Company is proud and excited to be staging the European amateur premiere of ‘Closer To Heaven’, an innovative, modern-day musical written by pop duo ‘Pet Shop Boys’ and Jonathan Harvey (Beautiful Thing, Beautiful People, Coronation Street, Gimme Gimme Gimme), at the Sallis Benney Theatre, Brighton, 22nd – 26th September 2009.
‘Closer To Heaven’ is set in London’s club land and tells the story of relationships, personal sexual acceptance and discovery, the ravages of drugs and the dark side of media life. This is all set against a clubland beat making the show both heartfelt, uplifting and very different to the usual style of musicals.
A talented and experienced cast and production team have been assembled to bring this exciting show to Brighton - the first time it will have been performed in the UK outside of the West End!
City Theatre Company is Brighton and Hove’s longest established musical theatre company, formerly operating as Brighton and Hove Operatic Society. ‘Closer To Heaven’ is being performed with the kind permission of Really Useful Group Ltd.
Tickets are £15.50 - £20 and available to buy online at www.brightonticketshop.com or from The Dome Office on 01273 709709, from 27th July 2009. A booking fee applies.
