Launch party of new vintage and old fashion lifestyle magazine In Retrospect.
Including premiere of short film Paper Doll.
The reason for this glamorous gathering? The official launch of In Retrospect magazine, which co-creator Mat Keller of Southern Retro, explained was born in response to another vintage magazine’s tired and “cheesy” approach content. “I’m all for pin-up girls, but there are other more relevant things I want to see in a magazine”, he said in his address to the theatre.
After a few months in digital, the editorial team – who pride themselves in being “full-time vintage enthusiasts – we live and breathe the past everyday of our lives” – launched a Kickstarter campaign and raised the funds to launch a print edition. And it was well worth the slog…
From original Sussex fashion shoots to previously unseen Mid-century American photos, features on women at war to a discussion of feminism vs vintage, music articles spanning Lindyhop to Hardcore Punk and useful guides on vintage care and repair and celluloid jewellery (and so much more) – this is a magazine of substance, written with passion.
