'Private Passion Public Patronage' The Role of the Artist Today Germaine Greer leads a major one-day event of presentations and debates. Starting with a key note speech from writer and novelist Marina Warner, the forum will discuss how artists understand their own work in the wider field of media, politics, and public institutions. Do artists comment on society, help transform it, resist it or ignore it in their work? The day will highlight key issues and bring together artists, arts professionals and audiences to discuss the fundamental questions of artists' practice today.
