This could well be a peak in a career that began thirty-four years ago in 1968 after the "cursed" albino had developed a passion for the song of the griots, (the wandering poets who went between townships telling royal stories, relaying family odysseys and handing down the oral tradition from generation to generation) and left the banks of the River Niger for Bamako.
