Third year students on the 3 Dimensional Crafts and Design course at the University of Brighton are organising a post card auction to raise funds for their final exhibition of work produced to obtain their degree. Postcards have been submitted by well known artists, designers and TV celebrities from; Twiggy, Alan Parker, Chris Drury and Andrzej Jackowski to James Dyson, This is the second auction of this type after their first highly successful post card auction raised in excess of £3,000 in 2002. Nick Muston of Gorringes Fine Art Auctioneers is kindly volunteering to raise the tempo and excitement level by heading the auction for the second time.
The students on the 3 Dimensional Crafts and Design course need to raise at least £10,000 to collectively buy a stand at the New Designers exhibition in Islington in July. This is the route to launching their career as designers and craftspeople after completing their degree.
The first auction was unlike any you would have seen before with friends and colleagues, art lovers and celebrity memorabilia collectors bidding against each other in a relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere. There will also be the added attraction of live jazz and a bar. All are invited to attend what should prove to be an entertaining evening where a bargain can be had.
Entrance fee £2
