A performance by the classical music stars of tomorrow in the form of the award-winning young ensemble The Marésienne Consort. They will bring together specialist soloists who combine knowledge with passion. Its members have appeared with many distinguished conductors and ensembles, including The Rose Consort of Viols, Fretwork, I Fagiolini, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and The Parley of Instruments. The group will perform virtuosic instrumental music from seventeenth century England in a concert themed A Contest of Division. 'Division' in this sense is a term that was used to denote a particular style of florid embellishment of a simple melodic line or ground bass. Supported by The Leche Trust
