Julian Maynard Smith is founder and artistic director of Station House Opera, a performance art/theatre company since 1980. The company has shown as wide variety of site-specific and gallery and theatre based work all around the world. Rooted in the visual arts, it has developed a language which speaks to all kinds of audiences. It was the only British company chosen to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution, and was invited to Dresden to build on the site of remembrance of the British destruction of the city inn 1945. The constantly re-staged production of Roadmetal Sweetbread has been invited to Sao Paulo, Beirut, Shanghai, Taipei and Azerbaijan.
