The Beijing Opera combines the traditional history, mythology, literature and poetry of China and is one of the most dynamic forms of theatre in the world. It blends singing, dancing and dialogue with acrobatic tumbling and kung-fu style of stage fighting. The International Monkey King Troupe have devoted themselves to making modern audiences aware of just how entertaining and exciting a night at the Beijing Opera can be. This performance is to support young students from developing countries via the Pestalozzi International Village Trust.
Pestalozzi scholarships are awarded to young people aged 16 – 20, from low-income families in Africa and Asia. Learning together promotes international understanding whilst they gain an education to support sustainable development in their home communities eg through medicine, education and engineering.
